Love Notes...

Artist and Craft Guerrilla Deborah Daniel has already started working on next September's Art Trail piece. Because of the proximity of Valentine's day and the LOVE EASY fair she's found inspiration for her project and would love for you to be included.

"For the next Art Trail I'm compiling a participative public art project where people are invited to write a LOVE NOTE completely anonymously. This can be to your first love, present partner, pet, granny or to the "one that got away".
It's a great way to get it off your chest or to finally let go or come to terms with an unrequited love!"

Messages will be on display as part of the Beautiful Interiors Valentine's window then later on the collection of notes will be compiled into a lovely hand bound book illustrated by guest artists and sold at several outlets. The profits of the book will go to charity which has yet to be decided.

If you want to include your entry please comment anonymously at the end of this post and all submissions will be transcribed.

Illustrators: If you'd like to submit work please contact me via email: craftguerrilla@yahoo.com

E17 Art Trail Blog

It's not that long away...September is just a hop and a skip away and we're frantically getting ready for our Craftea party on the 13th! The East London gals will be making special edition D.I.Y. craft kits for the E17 Art Trail event to keep all you keen crafters and D.I.Y. divas in the making mood.
The Bakerettes will be making scrumptious cakes. Spatulas at the ready, there has already been discussion of cake recipes and all I can say is CHOCOLATE is a big part of the menu choice!!! All types:from Brownies to French tarts. Yum, but then I am partial to Chocolate!
I also hear there are some mighty neat little projects like felt Kawaii tea bags, hand embroidered tea tray cloths, knitted cup cakes and more to be announced! It's all about our favourite British institutes:Craft and Tea!
Also I've been invited to write the editorial for the Trail map. It was great fun to write about our "HOME" which is a very talented but sometimes forgotten corner of East London. YES,it is EAST LONDON,North East but hey...EAST IS EAST!!! We're mega proud to be part of it and the Trail which is now in it's 5th year. We hope it keeps going indefinitely!
Well done Chris,Laura and Morag!
Read the blog for up to the moment news and info.

sneak preview...

here's a sneak preview of one of the craft projects...

Created for the 2008 E17 Art Trail by artist Deborah Daniel this little beauty was inspired by Victorian anatomical drawings and black humour.
This limited edition of 50 "anatomical heart pin cushion" has been screen printed onto 100% recycled felt.
Available as a D.I.Y. craft pack this project comes ready for you to make on the night: stuffing, thread, pins and needles included! Image shown is of a completed project.

" I wanted to offer something with a bit of a sense of humour to it.Something that would bring a smile to your face but be quite dark too but not that much...just a little bit, enough to make you feel a tad bit naughty!
I have and I'm sure we all had our hearts broken at some time. Then there comes that feeling. That uncomfortable pain. It's hard to describe but I'm sure that most people will know what I mean when I say that: I felt pins and needles stabbed into my heart when that certain someone didn't return my sentiments of LOVE!
This is why I created the heart pin cushion...it's harmless payback!
And for those that little bit more evil... it's suitable for voodoo too! So when you're sewing away and need a place to put your sewing accoutrements you can imagine you're using that unrequited lovers heart.
Smile, because as every pin goes in you can imagine him or her wriggling with love pangs (or a mild stroke) wishing they hadn't let you go!"

September's DIY craft event...

Great news...we have a venue and a date! Our first D.I.Y. craft night will take place in the Castle pub in Walthamstow Village during the annual E17 Art Trail.
We've pencilled in the 10th of September with Roger the lovely pub landlord as the date for our craft extravaganza.
DJ's are at the ready (Thank you Jake at Village Vinyl), craft projects are being organised and all in all it's coming together pretty well. We're hoping that it'll be the first of many!
The theme for this first one is "hearts for the heartless" and we're getting our over active imaginations working on a few interesting projects for people to get their hands on and hopefully fuel a new found love of making your own art and craft... hence the D.I.Y. craft title.
It's so inspiring to hear people say " I never knew I could actually make something". Hey we beleive that art and craft should be accessible to everyone and that's why we want to create events like these.
There's a knitted heart, an anatomical heart brooch and more to choose form. We're still on the hunt for other related projects so if know of any one,or you yourself could present a project or spare a few hours to tutor one of the crafts then let us know.
Email your ideas, projects etc to mail@craftguerrilla.com
Keep it crafty!

PS Other craft market dates for September are being organised so keep them peepers peeled!!!
