Late nights at The William Morris Gallery...

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting a very special Craft Night for the William Morris Gallery, part of their "Lates" and to coincide with the Giles Deacon exhibition. Because of the fashion connection we came up with a few fun and fabulous projects for our guests to make!

From clip on bow ties, cross stitch wooden brooches to pom pom head bands... they came, they made, they drank and they also danced!
For further WMG events please visit their web site...  www.wmgallery.org.uk

Cute!

Crafters looking serious... though I think they were just concentrating on their projects!

Cross stitch brooch and a very happy and accomplished crafter!

As part of the "lates" the gallery hosts events like these which also had a DJ... the music was awesome BTW!

I love how everyone really made amazing stuff...

Busy hands...

Ta dah... and a beautiful bow tie was made...

And a pretty cross stitch geometric design brooch too!

Plus we had our sewing expert Nicola Hughes teaching guests how to sew on zips!

And finally even the boys got in on the action. Suits you sir... suits you!

Thank you to everyone that came to make, the William Morris Gallery, Rebecca, all the gallery volunteers, the DJ, the CG helpers Hannah and Nicola as well as the very lovely Coats Crafts UK for their endless and generous sponsorship! We salute you!!!

Crafting it the vintage way!

As you know we love making, crafting, creating, wearing and salvaging vintage clothing, vintage style, snazzy hair do's and doing lots of general girlie things! OK but not sickly, pink hued, flowery infused type of girlie things...Not that there's anything wrong with that but it's just not us!
And lets not be sexist neither, all the above are not exclusively for girls we welcome blokes with a dapper sense of style and appreciation for good old fashioned crafty fun plus we love guys who can use their hands! (now, now ladies!)
And so we thought:"Hum, JUNE, lots of summer weddings coming up, festivals, pic nics, parties...What can we do to mark the beginning of the warm, sunny season and the launch of the play "girlfriend" at the rose & crown theater pub (our lovely host venue)?"
Alas the idea of doing a 1940's VINTAGE INSPIRED D.I.Y. CRAFT NIGHT was born!
We'll have a selection of very lovely guests Frill Seekers Vintage and Claire Hair to help us host this event plus you'll be able to make a lovely vintage inspired fascinator in our mini workshop. Keep those peepers pealed as we'll be announcing details very soon.

A Right Royal hoohah...with bunting!

OK ,OK so I'm being sucked in to all this Will & Kate royal wedding hoo-hah... which is a bit scary as I am not a Monarchist at all!
I guess it's the whole "Street Party", "Charles & Di',"Queen's Jubilee" vibe which is so attractive. Everybody loves a party and more so when it's associated with childhood and "better times".
And though every bone in my body says "NOOOOOOO, it's all a plan to get the masses to take their eyes off the ball so the Torries can get their evil way"!
I've decided to let go of those sentiments and just look at it in a simplistic way: MAKE BUNTING, PRETTY PRETTY, BUNTING!!!
I'm also a sucker for coloured paper flags so here you go...a mini printing workshop which you can just drop in,sit and print. It's £3 per person and we'll be making some Union Jack,Wills & Kate themed banners. Expect some safety pins as I don't want to loose all my street cred... that's why I'm calling it Punk Rock Bunting as it's a homage to the Sex Pistols and their "God Save the Queen" artwork.

From 8pm

E17 D.I.Y. craft night...UPDATE

Hey boys and girls.
We know just how much you folk love the Monthly Walthamstow D.I.Y. Craft Wednesdays so we're looking into finding an alternative venue for the 20th of May.
As our usual home has changed hands and they're refreshing, cleaning and moving in this month... we won't be able to do our "Craft Thang" at the Castle! It's cool but a shame as all you lovely people (and us) were looking forward to creating a bit of crafty fun!
Fingers crossed we'll have some info soon about the new venue so please keep checking the blog. Don't forget that we have other monthly events and a new bi monthly residency at the Make Lounge in Islington.
So yes we're still at quite a few other places. We hope you can come and check them out and get your fix there instead. So for now we're at 93 feet east, The Old Queen's head, the Make lounge and we hope to be back soon at the Castle. Don't forget that we're starting our monthly craft markets on Saturday the 30th of May in Beautiful Interiors (34 Orford Rd. Walthamstow Village E17 9NJ)
HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON!
